Redo of the Foyer Table Redo

Remember my aqua obsession, which lasted several months?

I loved it, I really did. Until I found my blog niche with ladies who are from my era.

And when I found my niche, I discovered my true blogger self. The farm girl transplanted to the suburbs.

I wanted to paint my little table back to a neutral color, so I whipped out the Rustoleum Heirloom White spray paint. They have one type that is both primer and paint in one. It works great. Takes a lot of patience, using spray paint, but I'm getting the hang of it.

When I put my Heirloom White table in the foyer, which is painted off-white ... it was too much white for me.

So I waited ... and waited ... and then I found something I wanted to copy (because imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right ... and because I'm not all that creative but I rock at redo's!).

Here's the top:

I've seen furniture in Blog Land Mod Podged with maps or sheet music. Anything could be used, really. Greeting cards, wrapping paper, napkins cut into various sizes and shapes.

But since I play the piano, I decided to use music. I bought two sheets of this music scrapbook paper at Hobby Lobby, total cost $1.23.

I already had the Mod Podge and sponge brush.

I cut the two sheets of paper to fit the shape of the table top.

Applied Mod Podge to the back of the first sheet of paper and attached it to the table. Then Mod Podged the second sheet and fit it to complete the table top.

With my fingertip I gently eased out any air bubbles. I let it dry for about two hours. Then applied a final layer of Mod Podge to the entire top and let it dry.

I'm enjoying the new look on the little yard sale table that originally cost $2.

I can change up the look for any season, any color. I like having that flexibility.

Have you Mod Podged anything? I love the look it creates at a very low cost!

  2. I think your table is fabulous also. In fact, I may steal your idea for my little bench that I want to use as a vanity seat in my bathroom. My husband crackle painted it - which looks great - but I think that the top would look fantastic decoupaged to give it a more finished look. I will let you know if that comes to pass. Thanks for sharing.
