The sun is finally shining in Virginia.
After days of dreary drizzle, the sunshine is heavenly.
To celebrate this much-needed event in
midst of the dark January days,
I made a Valentine banner -
my first banner ever.
Using fabric leftovers, I cut triangles
(just eye-balled it), two for each
part of the banner.
With back sides facing, I zigzagged
around the edges to finish.
Cut my binding tape the needed length.
Inserted each of my six triangles into the
tape, and pinned pinned pinned.
One long seam across the length,
and it was finished. I hung it beneath
my Valentine mantel (can't wait to show you!),
and I love it.
In my mind, I see a different banner
for every season of the year. No more
plain white fireplace bricks from floor
to ceiling. Color, glorious color!
Here are a couple of other little
snaps of color added to the
Valentine mantel yesterday ~
And of course, my favorites, M&M's ~
Stop by, I'll share them.
(Psst, don't tell - there are
more bags of them,
hidden in my secret hiding place.)
Hugs ~ Mary

Your banner looks great. I bet you love Valentine's Day when red is the popular color! I also like how you set your type up in a heart shape - very clever, my friend. You still aren't showing up in my reader. Sigh. I ironed my runner today and am working on a Valentine vignette. (That was fun to say.)
ReplyDeleteI do love that red holiday, Grammy ... but I've started thinking about incorporating it into every season. Or nearly. Or at least *some* red. I got my love of red from Brenda at Cozy Little House :)
DeleteAh Mary, love M&M's, I must stop by for some. Great job on your banner, it looks very "valentinsy"...))smiles))
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mary, come by anytime for your M&M "fix." Hugs ~ Mary
