Choosing Homeschool Curriculum

It's that time of year when homeschooling parents scramble to find
Exactly The Right Curriculum
for the coming school year.

It's not easy, and it's not cheap. Get the credit card ready!

This year we've outsourced our daughter's biology course. She'll
study with a stay-at-home mom/veterinarian who teaches biology. Elizabeth is looking forward to dissection.
She's really into ... stuff like that.

Last year the Algebra program wasn't working for Elizabeth. During Christmas, I ordered a new curriculum. Elizabeth sailed right through it.

Needless to say, I'm sticking with the same program for Geometry this year.

The happy thing about homeschooling is that you can make changes like this when something's not working for your child.

Homeschooling's not for everyone, and that's okay. But for our family, at this time, it works. With the right curriculum. Which I need to order right now!

  1. I've been homeschooling since the early 90s and didn't use half the curriculum I bought! Now we use mostly real books from the library and we use the internet a lot. It's great!

  3. Our daughter, Jamie went to a Homeschool fair this Monday and dropped over $500. She will be schooling four of the kids now. Actually her mother-in-law is the primary teacher. She homeschooled all of her six kids and the youngest one is now in college.

  4. Hi Mary! I really admire you homeschooling. I know that would take lots of discipline. Glad you've an outlet for your daughters geometry. I attended public school but do remember how I excelled and loved algebra. Got to geometry and was as lost as a goose! :)
I scrolled down to your mailbox post and enjoyed it. I think I'm spoiled as my mailbox in connected right to our house back the front door!
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  5. We did the same with bio and it is how my oldest decided to be a nurse. She had such a great bio teacher for two years. This year I only have my 4 yr old. A little preschool and lots of play.
