The Dining Room

I made the mistake of visiting Happy and seeing all the
 COLOR
 in her dining room.

My next mistake was walking past my own dining room.
Can y'all repeat after me: dull.
Well, that's when I got in my van and drove, fast as the law would allow, straight to the Goodwill. Because I'm a spontaneous kind
of girl like that.

I got a cart and took off to the back. Stopped in housewaves,
Aisle 3, red. And started tossing red things in my cart.

I nabbed everything red worth nabbing, as well as the old CD box (above) now holding my aqua jars.

And this Christmas angel, can you stand it, is she fun or what?!
You gotta love Christmas in July.

When I finished with blue, I went back up to the front where I saw a girl's dress hanging in the window. And I knew that this dress was going home with me. Never mind that my 16-year-old girl could not fit her toe in that dress. I had plans for it.

Yep, I cut it up and made a table mat from it.
And put my new $1.25 tiny little tea set on it.
Because half price that day was yellow stickers, and
it had one. Just my kind of dining room redo price!
And now, I tell you the truth, my dining room is a lot more exciting than it was Saturday morning.

Because what we did was, we got ourselves some color.
And we're going to get some more - because you just can't have too much color.

I'll be updating you over the next few weeks with the
changes to this room. As Goodwill provides, of course.
Thanks, Happy, for the inspiration!

  1. Hi Mary,
Love the changes you made in your dining room.
Colour highlights in a room are always wonderful.
I love Lots of bright light in my house...I think it makes everything look happy, and colour and light energise me.
The red touches in your room are fresh and 'happy' looking.
    Have a good week

  8. I love your touches of color, Mary. The red really pops. And what a great idea to use the CD crate to hold your Mason jars. Plus I'm admiring the simplicity of your pictures. I need to work on that myself. Have a great week.
