TGIF

Always glad for Friday, the kids and I look forward to Mr. Redo
being home all weekend. He doesn't get much rest with the three of us tugging on him from every which way!

I finished reading The Help - I could not put that thing down
yesterday until I found out how it was going to end.

Did you know the author sent her manuscript to 60 publishers before one picked it up. Bet the 60 are mad now, don't you!

Here's a little Pyrex dish I picked up at Goodwill some time
back - at the checkout I was feeling good about snagging
it for under $5 ... until I saw a lady in the next checkout buying
the three smaller matching pieces. Now I know how the 60 publishers who passed on The Help feel!

We're expecting temps of 100+ for the next three days,
followed by more summer storms. Pass the sweet tea and
skip the summer storms, please!

Do you have any fun plans for the weekend? Have you ever
thought it was too hot to even go to the pool?! That's what I'm
thinking right now, but I'm sure the kids will overrule me.

Hugs ~ Mary

we're finally going to get some hot weather here and our pool is in the back yard so that makes it nice. :)

  2. Hi Mary, I wanted to introduce myself and let you know that I live just up the road from you in Manassas.. I know what you mean about the heat and humidity.. You may be getting it worse than we are though.
It's supposed to cool off next week, but we may have more storms before the cool part comes our way..
I don't have a blog, but like to read yours and so many others on the internet.. I found you via Cozy Little House.. Brenda's decor and garden really fascinate me..
    Have a great weekend.. Charlotte

  3. Hello Mary,
I love your hearts and kitchen towel. Yes, hot and humid here, too, in SE Texas...All the pretty pinks help to cool things down a bit.

    Happy Pink Saturday,
    Marianne

  4. If it's any comfort, it's the wettest June on record in the UK, and July looks to be following it - severe flood warnings for most of the country. Whatever happened to Summer? Happy Pink Saturday from a cold and raining UK!

  7. Mary, this is the first time in many years that we are getting a warm summer before August so I'm not going to complain. Your Pyrex is so pretty; love aqua. Thank you for your visit and have a lovely weekend.

  11. I like the pillow - did you make it? It's 103 here. We hit a few yard sales before we gave up and went to several air conditioned Goodwill stores. Stay cool.

  15. What a darling bunting and love the pillows too! It finally got hot here in Idaho and we are currently keeping a very low profile (ie napping). I started reading The Help when it first came to our library, but did not finish it before I had to return it. However, I want to check it out again. Even though I live in Idaho, I love any story that takes place in the south!! Have a great weekend and stay cool my friend!

    Big Hugs,
    Susan and Bentley

The pyrex is a pretty colour..what a pity you didn't see the matching pieces.
Never mind. They'll turn up somewhere else, someday!
You are certainly sweltering over there.
Hope things cool down soon for you all.
Being a pale-skinned redhead, pool time is never good for me.
