A Window for the Breakfast Room

Hey, everybody, hope you had a great weekend. I did! My hubby and both kids went to
Cousin's Camp at Hunter's Grove
and I had an entire day and night to myself.
I loved every single second of it.

Not only did I clean up the ton of paperwork from all over my office/craft room, but I also got to complete a project I've wanted to work on forever.

I've had this window, which incidentally originally came from Hunter's Grove, for over a year. And as I've traveled around Blogland, I've thought I'd copy this one or that one. But nothing ever worked out with a look that screamed ME!

I'd begun the wreath, which had to be tweaked nearly to death to make it to the ME point. Luckily, I put the whole thing together using straight pins, so when something didn't work, I just pulled it off and tried something else.

My final plan was to hang the window in the Breakfast Room on the bleakest of all walls. While the family frolicked at Cousin's Camp, I hammered a nail into the wall and hung the window, then added the wreath.

It was awful, can we be honest? Something was missing, but what? While eating a Subway turkey and provolone for dinner, I remembered the roll of Christmas wrapping paper I picked up in Williamsburg last week at the Goodwill. I taped a sheet of it to the back of the window, and YES! I love it. The paper doesn't actually speak "Christmas" so I think it works.

I tried the Wisteria Lane sign (another Williamsburg Goodwill find) above the window - still not quite sure about that but my girl Elizabeth loves it so it'll stay for now.

When the family got home Saturday afternoon, Mr. Redo agreed to finally remove the hideous sconces from the wall - they have been the bane of my existence for three years, and now, hallelujah, they're gone!

This left holes in the wall, which I promptly hid with these fabric-filled embroidery hoops. Which will either be replaced with
something more substantial or surrounded with more
embroidery hoops. Look sad and lonely right now,
don't they, poor things.

I picked up my little Faith cross at Hope Thrift this weekend. Love it! I plan to fill up this wall with more lovable objects.

I'm still working on this little breakfast room and will
post more about that later.

What'd y'all do this weekend? Details please!

  2. I love how your room is coming together, Mary. I also know how much you must have enjoyed your "alone" time. Those days are gone for me, since my beloved hubby (hehehe) never goes anywhere without me.
