Well, it was a busy weekend here. The highlight was the wedding of our friends Casey and Andrew. A gorgeous wedding with my favorite color - hot pink.
After the wedding, the flowers were given away. Elizabeth and I chose this bridesmaid bouquet. Isn't it gorgeous!
Sunday, Matthew went to the pool with friends while Elizabeth and I took a "photo shoot" drive. We found a spot down the road from us, a tiny town called Bon Air.
Beyond this little town square are Victorian houses of every color - we'll just have to go back and take pictures because we ran out of time Sunday.
It's been a rough summer for Elizabeth. Her Best Friend Forever - Jacob - is moving to Georgia. We're glad for him, he'll be in the same area as his dad, who he normally only sees twice a year. Now he'll be living 20 minutes from him. Isn't that great?
For him, yes, but not for Elizabeth. She's taking it really hard. Poor child is like her mother, very sensitive, carries her hurts deeply.
So during the two hour drive, we talked about:
1. Fun things to do to keep her busy: swimming, photography.
2. Which month we'll drive nine hours to Georgia to visit Jacob.
3. How much time is reasonable for her to spend on her cell phone with Jacob and other friends.
As an adult, I know she'll get through this.
As a 16-year-old, she's not so sure.
Meanwhile, I'm praying for her, knowing that
God will meet her needs.

I will pray for her too:) I know it will be hard but looking forward to seeing him again will hopefully help! Have a blessed day, HUGS!
ReplyDeleteThe wedding must have been beautiful judging by the lovely flowers. Tell Elizabeth that distance makes the heart grow fonder, at least that is what "they" say. It is hard to believe that when you are 16 and feel like you are losing your best friend. I hope she feels better about it soon.----------- Shannon
ReplyDeleteOh I am sure the wedding was amazing! The flowers are AWESOME...talk about a POP of pink! WOW!!!! beautiful -- wishing the happy couple all that is good in the world!!! sending you hugs and my little furry friend who i hope is doing great! sorry for being a way a bit -- life is a bit over the top right now! : ) hugs to all!!!
ReplyDeleteI love hot pink as well. Beautiful flowers.
ReplyDeleteMaybe when school starts your daughter will feel better about things. When you are 16 these are huge things. She is so young, she will bounce back. Moms always worry, don't we.
What a special wedding couple to graciously give away the flowers! The ones you picked are so lovely. Elizabeth is doing very well with her photography skills. You are being a good mom by listening and validating her feelings. (I know that sounds like psycho-babble, but I remember how my parents never did that.) Cell phones - that's a tough one. I actually have more texts than minutes. It's a strange new world. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteHaving a friend move so far away is so hard....but thankfully there are cell phones, free long distance, ccomputers....it keeps it a little easier these days....she will adjust fine.....just that old fashion thing...called time!
ReplyDeleteElizabeth is so very sweet and so very special. I am sure she will be busy and still able to reconnect with Jacob. True friendships live in our hearts, after all. (Cell phones, well, maybe a little p/t job babysitting or something can help with that!). The first photo, Mary, is fantastic. xo
ReplyDeleteOh, dear, that is a hard age to have a friend move away. With all the ways to keep in touch these days, they should be able to maintain their friendship. And what a good mom you are to take her on a trip to visit him in the future. I love the flowers in the umbrella on that front door - so clever! Ann
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful arrangement from the wedding! The colors are just lovely. Poor Elizabeth. I'm so sorry about her friend. If you come near me on the way to visit him in Georgia, I would love for you two to spend a night if you would like to. It sounds like Elizabeth already understands what a great opportunity this is for her friend and I know it's old fashioned but think of the great letters and pictures they can write.
ReplyDeleteThe wedding flowers are absolutely beautiful! Poor Elizabeth, it's so sad when close friends move away, especially when you are 16. You are a kind mum to be so supportive, and I'm sure it will all work out. Wishing you a happy week.

One word for Elizabeth: Skype! I've never used it but everyone says it's awesome. Gorgeous bouquets...so pretty. I love hot pink, too. That and green are my fave colors. Wonder why we love the colors that we do? Must be in our brain wiring. :). That door arrangement was so beautiful!
