Since November is the month of Thanksgiving,
I thought it would be fun to do a thirty-day blog theme titled
On Day One, I am thankful for the Lord.
During an extremely dark period in my life - yes I have had bouts with depression at times - I read a book by Marion Bond West titled Learning to Lean. It was her own story of walking with the Lord
through life's ups and downs.
I found my own faith after reading that book thirty years ago, and since then I have also been "learning to lean" on the Lord.
Oh I've had periods when I've turned away ... but each time I've turned back to Him, He's been there ready to welcome me.
He hasn't always made things easy for me ... life isn't easy for any of us, right?! but somehow I've managed to get through things I never thought I could,
with His help.
I finally heard news about Andrea of The Cottage Market.
Keren at Free Pretty Things posted
that while Andrea and family are safe, they have lost power and
don't expect to have it back for a week. So we're still
praying for Andrea and the millions of others in the northeast
who have suffered as a result of Sandy.

Sweet post, I will order that book for a friend going thru tough times:) Have a blessed day dear friend! Thankful for so much in my heart!
ReplyDeleteHi Mary! Oh, I'm so glad you found the Lord and I know I couldn't make it without Him. The title of your book is the title to an old song that I love!
ReplyDeleteStill praying for all those who were affected by Sandy.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :)
Mary, I have not read any blogs in quite some time and it was such a joy for me to read yours this morning. My faith has carried me through many tough times too and I find as I age, I rely on it more and more. Thank you for adding to my daily devotionals.

I am going to do a 30 day gratitude on my blog also. You have inspired me.
ReplyDeleteI like your November blog theme. I will try to be more grateful myself for all of the Lord's many blessings.

Hi Mary, what a great idea, to document 30 days of thankfulness. And I love that you started with the Lord. What a great reminder of what should always be #1 in our lives. I'm so glad you shared!
