1 Thessalonians 1:2 NIV
A few months ago I started a prayer journal.
Each section of my journal is dedicated to a specific subject - e.g. each of my children, my husband, my need for forgiveness, others' needs, our church staff.
But my favorite section is "Thanksgiving."
Back in November when I began to focus on being thankful, I noticed how it changes my heart to joy. Sometimes now, I have to go back to my journal during the day to note something that's just happened that I'm thankful for.
Bringing more joy. Just in the little things of life, like a child's success in a certain area. A new friend at church. My blogging friends.
Even when one's computer blows up (as mine did this week!), there's still so much to be thankful for - a warm house, a good meal. It helps me to remember these things!
Hope you enjoy a wonderful Sunday where you are.

What a nice prayer journal. Reflection and thankfulness both are very therapeutic. Have a wonderful Sunday!

There is so much to be thankful for each and every day. I am glad you are doing a journal! Hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteIsn't it an awesome to look at all the things we have to be thankful for? I have a grateful journal that Uwrite in every night with something that I am thankful for that day. We take the ordinary things the Lord blesses us with daily so for granted.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me how lucky I am.

My Mac blew up too. I have been without it for a few weeks now and have been using my hubby's laptop which he uses for work, so it's been really hit and miss for me. I am visiting you on my new Mac, which I am trying to get used to because I was so used to the old one. However, like you, I am trying so hard to just be thankful for every blessing. It is so easy to get caught up in all of the negativity if you are not careful.

A happy heart is a grateful heart.
ReplyDeleteI always remember to Thank God for all of my many blessings! When I pray, being thankful is very important to me! Have a blessed Sunday, HUGS!
ReplyDeleteMy word for the year is enJOY spelled that way. Yesterday at a church craft day the speaker spoke of JOY. J for Jesus O for others and Y for yourself. I found that interesting.
ReplyDeleteWhen I feel sad I deliberately think of something I am thankful for. It helps. Thank you for sharing. Visiting from Linda's Gratitude Sunday.
ReplyDeleteJoy
So true Mary..we must learn to find JOY in the little things that happen every day..That is where to find true happiness..Also I guess we can be thankful that we have children with computers when ours blows up..Just kidding but I have been there myself..lol
ReplyDeleteJoy is also my word of the year, we need to be very "alert" to our joy everyday. Joy is in so many things on a daily basis, and what a nice prayer journal.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary! Oh, I so agree! Joy and thankfulness makes our heart happy! That's a great idea about your journal. Hope you're being a good girl! I have a feeling you are! :)
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Oh thank you for the reminder about gratitude and being thankful in prayer too. I needed reminding!
