Tweak #3 for the Guest Room - Curtains

When I visited my friend Dawn's new home - an adorable cottage in the country - the first thing I noticed was the curtains.

"Oh, they're just tablecloths I bought at Target for $14 each,"
Dawn told me when I asked.

They were so cute, I went to Target and bought two $14 tablecloths of my own - mine are red (Dawn's were print, blues and greys).

I cut each tablecloth in half lengthwise, then sewed the newly raw edges and made the pocket. In the above pic, I left the curtains hanging loosely. In the below pic, I braided some baker's twine
to make (free) tie backs.

Here's the faint design in the fabric - did I mention these are Christmas tablecloths?! Who would know, right?

You've heard of curtains puddling? -  mind are deep sea diving. I didn't bother to hem them, though I may go back later and do that. But I got red curtains for $28, and I'm as happy as can be!

***The tablecloths were bought before my New Year's decision to see how far I could go into 2013 without buying non- necessities.

  2. So pretty Mary..just try finding two pair of curtains that nice for $28.00..I need curtains for a room with five windows and just can't afford them so this is a brilliant idea for me..Thanks..Also I believe that curtains are a necessity not an unnecessary buy! Now if I can just find five matching tablecloths for cheap!!

  4. Love these curtains! I've used twin size bedsheets before and they have turned out great! Sometimes you just have to think outside the box!
