Tweaking the Breakfast Room Wall

A few weeks ago I was visiting a blog (cannot remember whose) and got very excited to copy their art idea.

The original blogger framed 6-8 magazine covers, but since I'd been looking for something to fill the space below my two breakfast room signs, I knew 3 would do the trick.

I had to wait until I found frames for around $1 each (my self-imposed budget), which I finally did last week at a new Goodwill that opened not too far from us. The frames had been painted and distressed by the original owner and cost me $1.25 each.

The middle (garden) picture isn't final, just waiting for another magazine to arrive with food on the cover to fill that slot. I photocopied the magazine covers at Staples and while the paper perfectly fits the frame, the picture doesn't - but I'm okay with that. As Nester says, "It doesn't have to be perfect!"

Isn't that fun? Aside from pictures of your kids, what's your favorite framed item in your house?

  2. Those look great! I don't have a lot of wall space in my kitchen but think I would like some signs and a framed chalkboard!

  3. HI Mary! Oh, I love this look and the magazine covers look great. My most favorite framed piece, except for family like you said, is my painting of the parable of the loaves and fishes. I posted about it a little while back.
    Be a sweetie,

  6. I love, love, love that idea. Beautiful. We always have so many extra magazines at the library. We purge them yearly and put them in our used book sale. Guess I'll be loading up. Now, that's thinking outside the box. I love to find a new purpose for something. My parents were children of the Depression and that gene got passed along to me. Use it, reuse it, wear it out, NEVER THROW IT OUT.

Thanks for sharing. I'll be "borrowing" this idea.

    Blessing to you,
