Two years ago my niece Penny came over and decorated my mantel for Valentine's Day. She's so talented, it looked beautiful. I'd never decorated my mantel seasonally until I start reading blogs around that time.
Since her tutorial, I've made two more Valentine mantels on my own. This year's ~
For Valentine's Day, the Christmas ornie wreath finally came down, and I hung this one I made last summer. Just added a little pink heart for the season.
The Christmas angel still made the cut, though, because she has a red heart! So glad she could stay around for a while longer, I really love my angel.
In the dining room you'll find my three-tier holding handmade fabric hearts. See the little pail - I broke my "no buying unnecessary things in 2013" goal yesterday while in Target - never should have gone in there, it's my weakness! The little pail was $1. The budget will survive that. Just gotta watch my spending and not let $1 grow to $5 grow to $10 ...
I filled the pail with M&M's but accidentally bought the peanut ones. Not my fave but you know my chocolate-loving self will eat every one of them anyway, right?!
This little wood block Valentine plaque was made last year and you can see the details here ~
How's your Valentine's decor coming along?

So cute Mary, yes, I think you are OK with just $1(it's charging that is bad, my bad habit!). I adore peanut M&M's, better than plain ones which I find a little too sweet. xo
ReplyDeleteMary,
ReplyDeleteOh so cute. Today in the mail I received your lovely banner "Relax & Read". Love, Love, Love it. Thank you and Jennifer, Allison and Elizabeth for this SPECIAL gift. I will treasure it. We are going to hang it above our elevator for all to enjoy. Thanks sweet lady. Love your blog.

Mary I am so glad you got your computer working again! Love the new banner!! I'm moving very slowly in my Valentine decorations. Hey it might even be over before I'm finished! Love how you used that adorable wreath and just added a heart to make it work. SOOOOO cute! I'm off to finish some things and maybe do more decorating!

My Valentine decorating is nonexistent but yours is beautiful! After the kids grew up I stopped doing anything for Valentine's Day but seeing so many cute things on blogs sure makes me want to do better, next year!

ReplyDeleteYou did a great job of it, Mary! I find it so cheery and fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the peanut M & Ms - For some reason, I don't like chocolate with nuts in it. Give me plain M & Ms every time!
