I searched Google for a solution, but the bottom line for us Blogger bloggers is to use Comment Moderation.While it adds extra steps to your blogging each day, there are no longer spam comments showing up.

On another note, have you been getting a lot of comments from dear folks, when you try to reply (via email) you can't because it says "No Reply Comment..."?
So frustrating! Sometimes I find myself halfway through a lengthy response, only to glance up and realize it's not going anywhere.
You can change your settings to eliminate this if you'd like to hear back from me:
1. Go to your user profile on Blogger.
2. Check the box that says "show my email address."

UPDATE: Here's some information sent me by a dear reader, and it really taught me something -
"I always click on the persons highlighted name and it takes me to their blog. That way too, they get the comments on their blog and we all love that."

ReplyDeleteHi Mary! Oh, Blogger! I'm hearing there are lots of problems going on right. I guess I don't get it. Why do folks comment by email and not just return the kindness of replying on your blog like you just did to them. I understand personal things or questions in email. I get lots of email replies but it kinda saddens me because I've visited their blog and commented but then some just email and don't come to my blog.

I have always used 'comment moderation', and I tend to reply on the person's blog (if they have one). Blogger has many issues going on, it is very frustrating, and I hate that there is no way to get any assistance from them except for those stupid threads of old conversations. I have a few folks who do follow my blog but only respond to me through email on the iPhone. Let's me know they don't bother to check out my blog. Oh well. I get tons of spam in my email, wondering if it is through my comment moderation?? xo
ReplyDeleteI'm one of those no reply bloggers due to the spammers. BUT, google emails me any comments left on my blog, so I can go back to mine or yours to reply. I don't have it set that way to annoy folks, LOL, just to keep viruses and spasm at bay. :) Pam

I hate no reply blogs but I will try if I can to reach out to them. I don't have anonymous comments and so far haven't had to go to comment moderation but I would if I was getting lots of Spam. hugs, Linda

ReplyDeleteI have not been troubled with spam but didn't set up my blog my daughter and her partner did all that so they would have put in protection they consider me a bit of a child as far as the computer is concerned so I would be protected.
